Husband of Emma Cooper Obituary from the Trenton Tribune , October 31, 1913. Transcription from the Leonard Historical Museum. ORANGEVILLE: At 4 o'clock Thursday, all that was mortal of J. W. COOPER, JR., passed peaceably away. He had been confined to his bed for several months with tuberculosis of the bowels. Deceased was a son of Uncle Jim Cooper, who is now in his eightieth year. He was born in Fannin county, April 20,1863, being 50 years of age. He married Miss N. E. Blackwell, and twelve children were born unto them, eight of whom are still living, four boys and four girls. Most of the children were present at his death and burial. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Pike of Sherman, after which the remains were deposited in the Porter cemetery, surrounded by a host of relatives and friends. Jim, as he was familiarly called, was a good citizen and honest man; always ready and willing to assist those less fortunate than himself. To the relatives, and especially the children, we extend our sympathy. May the God who "tempers the wind to the shorn lamb" protect and care for them.
