Bio

Theodore "T" Motley, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, April 13, 2009, at Central Texas Health Care System in Temple. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, with Pastor Michael Nemec officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the funeral home. Mr. Motley was born in Hubbard, Texas, to the late James Pendelton and Idora (Bonner) Motley. For a short period of time in his youth, he moved to Amity, Ark., with his parents during the depression of 1929, moving back to the Hubbard area about 1935. From Jan. 13, 1942 to Jan. 13, 1946, he served his country in the U. S. Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. On Dec. 29, 1947, he married Lucille Annie Muesse Hennig. On Sept. 6, 1958, he started working as a pipe fitter for Brown and Root and retired on May 28, 1981, from Comanche Peak at Glen Rose in the pipe fabrication shop. Also during his working career he worked in maintenance from 1962 to 1969 for Certain Teed in Hillsboro. "T" was a very active member of the Hillsboro Roundup Club, participating in parades and other events held by the club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed riding and breaking horses and farming and ranching. He loved kids and his family very much and was big on family get-togethers. His favorite past times were to work on and fix cars and buy, sell, and trade all kinds of items. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and his confirmation verse was John 3:16. Preceding him in death was his wife on Aug. 1, 2007; and sisters, Ida May Hester and Geneva Tharpe. Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen DeArman and husband, Jerry, of Burleson;, son, Johnny Motley, of Hillsboro; granddaughter, April D'Anne Chappell and husband, Rodney, of Burleson; great-grandchildren, Allison Paige Chappell, Emily Ann Chappell and Ryan Anderson Chappell, all of Burleson; brother, J. P. Motley and wife, Antoinette, of Waco; sister, Hazel Tolleson and husband, Lester, of Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
