DEATH SUMMONS PETER WHITMAN Summons Comes to Well Known Farmer after Long Illness FUNERAL ON SUNDAY Leaves Wife and Four Children, to Mourn His Death. Leaves Also Brother and Three Sisters Peter Whitman, life long resident of Coffin's Grove township, passed away at his farm home Friday, June 14, 1935, after an illness of long duration. Funeral services were held at the family home Sunday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. J. Frank Moore had charge of the services. Burial was made in Oakland cemetery. Mr. Whitman was born in Coffin's Grove township, this county, April 30, 1869, and spent his entire life on the farm in that locality. On Jun 16, 1897, he was united in marriage with Miss Lizzie Coonrod, and to this union four children were born. The children are Mrs. Howard Cook, Roy, Floyd and Verna, all of Coffin's Grove township. He leaves surviving the widow, the children named, and one brother, George Whitman, of Masonville; and three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Franks of Thorpe, Washington; Mrs. Anna Abbott of Rockford, Ill.; and Mrs. Barbara Franks, of Manchester. He also leaves four grandchildren, and a great many other relatives. A baby born in 1904 preceded the father in death in infancy. Mr. Whitman was widely known throughout the northern part of the county, and was held in the highest esteem by neighbors and friends, who will miss him as the years come and go.
