Bio

Thanks to contributor #47226369; Walter D. Couton, son of W. H. Couton of Austin, died at Alliance, Nebr. last Saturday, January 7 1911, of typhoid pneumonia and the remains were brought to Ravenna, on Sunday evening, where they were laid beside his mother who preceded him to the grave a number of years, on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Walter was a promising young man of about 24 years, and was employed, at the time of his death, as passenger brakeman on the B. & M. with headquarters in Alliance. He was sick about two weeks, when the grim reaper called and Walter went the way of all flesh. It is said that the good die young, and Walter has furnished an example of the addage (sic). He was kind, gentle and affectionate, and a model among young men. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge of Loup City, and loved the human teachings of the order. Following the faith of his people, he embraced the Catholic religion and was buried from that church. Walter is gone but his memory will long dwell in the hearts of his many friends.
