Winfield Daily Free Press Winfield, Kansas Saturday, February 24, 1917 Page 1 Death of J.T. Hook Last Evening at six o'clock occurred the death of J.T. Hook of 907 E. Sixth avenue, after an illness lasting several months. Mr. Hook was born in Blooming Springs, Kentucky on October 31, 1850, and came to Winfield in 1877, where he resided until his death. He was married to Miss Emma Mount in Winfield on April 19, 1870. Eight children were born to this union, three of whom died in childhood. Those surviving with their mother are: Mrs. Ethel Broughton of Cherryvale; Mrs. Ira Shockey, James L. Hook, Mrs. Iva M. Wilson and Miss Mary Hook, all of Winfield. Mr. Hook was esteemed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Cowley County Encampment I.O.O.F. and held the chair of Past Grand Master and at the present time was Past Noble Grand. He was a devout member of the First Christian church. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the residence in charge of the Rev. R.W. Gentry.
