Alice Strizek, 89, of Valparaiso died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo. She was born Dec. 3, 1919, on a farm near Valparaiso to Joseph and Blanche (Dolezal) Scharf. She attended School District 49 east of Valparaiso through the eighth grade. She married Raymond Strizek on June 6, 1938, in Wilber. They lived on farms near Cedar Bluffs, Wakefield and Fremont during the early years of their marriage. In 1965, they permanently moved to a farm northeast of Valparaiso. There she assisted Raymond with the farm work and raised chickens, ducks and a large garden. Her husband preceded her in death in 1982. She stayed on the farm until moving into the Saunders County Care Center on Jan. 4, 2009, when her health deteriorated. Survivors include: a son, Kenneth Strizek of Valparaiso; a daughter, Marian (and husband, Phil) Frohnen of Fremont; a sister, Blanche Drews of Fremont; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and a grandson. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo.
