Bio

Carl Noel Smith Sr., 96, of Oakdale died Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center, Modesto. Mr. Smith was a native of Texas. He lived in Oakdale 25 years. He was a custodian for Rheem Aircraft in Downey 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Altie Smith of Oakdale; children, Hattie Patrick and Mae Varner, both of Modesto, Bert Racadio of Paramount, Hoarse Smith of Texas, Carl Noel Smith Jr. of Pomona, Lester Smith of Kentucky, Dorothy Arrighi of Ontario and Alice Weber of Sunnyvale; brother, Buddy Smith of Texas; sister, Audrey Anderson of Texas; and 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 31 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakdale Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Oakdale Citizens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the chapel.
