Bio

Daughter of Peter G. Brown (1830–1887) of Georgia, and Martha Anderson (1836–1865) of Mississippi. (Their burials have not been located.) Mother Martha died when Hattie was very young and her father married Jane Elvira Deaver in 1869. After Jane died, Peter married Margaret Ann Gilbreath in 1873. One of these step-mothers (unsure which) mistreated Hattie. Her daughter (my grandmother) told me stories Hattie had told her about the mistreatment.
