Enlisted in SC CSA 1863 He is found on Co A 4th Reg South Carolina Cav Feb 29th thru August 31 before his death Sept 1864 14 Sept 1864 Died in the CSA hospital Gordonsville, Va . 1939 Headstone ordered and placed here by Family. ∼ s/o Isaac Hurst (1804-1884) and Henrietta "Ritta" Rivers (1805-1865) PVT Co A, 4th SC Cavalry, Rutledge's Regiment Died at Gordonsville, VA on the 14 Sep 1864 COD: Febris Remittens aka Remittent Fever in Hospital in Gordonsville His Military marker was placed by his family at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, McFarlan Community in Morven, NC Research shows he is buried here. "Maplewood is a beautiful cemetery overlooking the Town which dates back to the 1800s. It is the final resting place for more than 700 Confederate soldiers, many of whom were treated at the Town's Civil War receiving hospital at the Gordonsville Exchange Hotel."
