Amanda is the daughter of Rhodam "Rody" Allen and Elizabeth "Betsie" Spruell Allen. She married John Rufus Jeffrey 26 Feb 1861 in Lavaca, Lavaca Co., TX. He was killed in the Civil War. They had one child, Elvira. Amanda married [2] John Douglas Staples 2 Jan 1872 Guadalupe Co., TX. They had six children, Anna Leona, A. Jackson, Marguerette M., A. E. 'Lizzy', Robert Lee and James L. Alternate names for Amanda are: Rhoda Amanada Mahaley Allen, Amanda Mahaley Elizabeth Allen, Mrs. Amanda Jeffrey.
