Obituary as it appeared in the Sioux Center News on August 25, 1955 Hull Woman Dies At 62; Funeral Held on Saturday HULL - Mrs. John Vander Kooi died Wednesday, August 17th at the age of 62 years. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Christian Reformed Church, with her pastor. Rev. H. Van Deelen in charge. Johanna Ten Harmel was born in the Netherlands in 1893. She came to America in 1920 and was married to Mr. John Vander Kooi on Oct. 13, 1922. Surviving are her husband, John, and one daughter, Pearl. A son, William, preceded her in death in 1945 while in Service. He lost his life in Germany. Other survivors include five brothers, Anthony, John, Henry, Herman, and Chris, and three sisters, Fannie, Mrs. Berenschot; Dena and Pearl Ten Harmsel.
