Albert was the son of Samuel & Charlotte Davis Cothern. He married Margaret Shockey, 28 Dec 1880, Fayette County, Illinois. They had seven children. He married Miriam Nowlin Welch, 1 Dec 1912, Herrick, Shelby County, Illinois. They had three daughters.
