Rock Valley Bee - February 10, 1988 Matilda Kuipers Matilda Kuipers, 75, of Hull died Monday, February 1,1988 in a hospital in Sioux Center. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 4 in the First Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Gerald Vander Velde officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery. Visitation with the family was held at the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home at Hull. Mrs. Kuipers, the former Matilda VanDer Vliet, was born Jan. 16, 1913, at Hull. She married Isaac Kuipers June 27,1934, at Hull. The couple farmed at Hull until 1961 when they moved into town. They were custodians at First Reformed Church and also operated Holiday Laundromat, retiring in 1974. Mr. Kuipers died Jan. 18,1980, at Hull. Mrs. Kuipers was a member of First Reformed Church, Reformed Church Women and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a foster grandparent at Hope Haven in Rock Valley. Survivors include two sons, Gradus of Hull and Gerrit of Jasper, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Howard (Gertrude) TeSlaa of Hull, Mrs. Vernon (Hermina) Hamann of Rock Valley and Mrs. Richard (Karen) Dykstra of Worthington, Minn.; three brothers, Herman of Hull, Henry John of Brea, Calif., and Stanley of Colton, S.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Henrietta) Meendering of Hull, Mrs. Gerrit (Annetta) TerMaat of Hickman, Neb., and Mrs. Henry (Bernice) Vink of Colton; 16 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
