Daughter of Samuel Marsh Powell and Lorena Marie Nielsen Wife of Joseph Heber Blackburn Mary Lorena Powell Blackburn, 92, died July 7, 2003 in West Valley City, Utah. Born September 18, 1910 to Samuel Marsh Powell and Lorena Nielsen in Theodore (now Duchesne), Utah. Married Joseph Heber Blackburn May 16, 1934 Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; her happiest hours were spent with her family. She enjoyed genealogy, family stories (she loved to tell everyone about her family; her ancestors as well as her children and grandchildren). She could spend hours looking at family photograph albums, and Family Histories. She always had flower gardens (she could see the flowers in a field of weeds). She is survived by her children Edith Campbell (Richard), JoElla Welch (Frank), Karl Blackburn (Lorene), Lorena Blackburn, Vera Kramer (Kim), Joseph Blackburn (Patricia). She had 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, Della Prince, her little sister, and her cousin Lula, both of whom showed their love in special ways. Many nieces, nephews, cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Heber Blackburn, four brothers and two sisters. The family wishes to give special thanks to her friend Marguerite O'Connor and family, Irma and Mark Cooper, and her doctor Bonnie Lee and nurse Pam. Funeral services, Friday, July 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah. Viewing two hours prior to services. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
