Bio

Samuel A. Powell, age 80, passed away peacefully August 27, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born September 20, 1912 in Tucker, Utah to Samuel M. and Lorena N. Powell. He lived in Utah all his life; married Alda Wilson April 29, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death March 1962. He married Ruth Waters September 6, 1962 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was employed as a car man for UPRR. He also worked for First Security Bank as a building engineer. He enjoyed being a "jack of all trades." Samuel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the position of high priest at the time of his death. He was loved by all. He loved and respected the outdoors and being with his family. He was a loving and generous father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by brothers, Francis and Wayne; sister, Doris; and daughter, Myrna. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and his children, Arthur, Merlyn, Dennis, Darwin, David, Kenneth, Jolene, Larry, Joyce, Zeda, Ruth, Rose, Ned and Beth; one brother; three sisters; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Tuesday, August 31 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Bountiful 28th Ward House, 2250 South 2nd West, Bountiful, Utah.
