Walter Griess Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 5, 1990 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Walter Griess Walter George Griess, the son of Helmut and Amalia (George) Griess, was born in southern Hamilton County, on December 26, 1908, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 1, 1990, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 5 days. He attended country school at District #34, and attended Hampton High School. He farmed several years near Hampton. On August 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mary Moore at Aurora. Walter was Superintendent of Hamilton County Weed Control Authority for 20 years, and won several state awards for his accomplishments. He also drove a school bus for Aurora Public Schools for 14 years. In 1980, he and Mary moved to Hastings and resided at the Good Samaritan Village. In 1988, they returned to Aurora where they have since resided. Walter was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Mary of Aurora; one brother Ivan of Santa Rosa, California; one sister Doris Cogil of Keystone, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.
