OBITUARY: The Manti Messenger, Friday 3 December 1909: Joshua Fielding was born in Lancashire, Engl. In 1837. He came to Utah in 1854, living in Salt Lake until 1858 when he moved to Springville and where he married Juliet Wimmer. He moved from there to Glenwood, Sevier county from which place he came to Manti, nineteen years ago. His first venture in Manti was to open the Fielding easting house in the Peacock building, the large stone house on the block north of the court house. He afterwards ran the R. G. W. eating house at the station here for eight years. In the early days he took quite an active part in the Indian war in both this and Utah county. He was also one of the company who resisted Johnson's army in Echo canyon. He died at his home in this city Monday morning from congestion of blood vessels near the heart. He had been ill for four weeks. His wife, two sisters, four daughters and three sons survive him. The funeral was held at the Tabernacle Tuesday. Son of James Fielding & Ann Henthorne. Cemetery records indicate that Joshua Fielding is buried in this cemetery, but the marker cannot be found, per the office.
