Bio taken from book: "History Of Texas World War Heroes" Pvt. James J. Odle belonged to Co. F, 5th Engineers, and trained at Corpus Christi. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Odle of McKinney. He was born August 18, 1896, and entered the service February 24, 1918. His work in the Engineers was construction of barrages. Several times bombs would tear up tracks they had built. He had received orders to go over the top at 11 o'clock, November 11, should the armistice not be signed. He returned home on the George Washington with President Wilson and served as a cook on this ship.
