Bio
Irene Davis, 68 of Rapid City died Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Irene was born March 30, 1938 to Loy and Edna (Lloyd) Lester in Presho, SD. She grew up and attended schools in Lyman County, SD. She moved to Pactola as a young girl. Irene married Jewell Davis on September 29, 1956. Jewell was serving in the Navy, so they traveled the country eventually settling in South Dakota. Irene was a homemaker while her children were young, and then worked many years as a housekeeper at local motels. She is survived by four daughters, Lori Harwood and husband Pat, Jacki Herman and husband Glenn, Terri Kirkpatrick and husband Tom, Jodene Carlin and husband Danny all of Rapid City, one sister, Lois Glover of Jacksonville, FL, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Mel Davis, two brothers, Donald and Ray Lester and one grand daughter, Tasha Davis. Visitation will be December 19, 2006 at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City and one hour before services at the church. Services will be at 1 pm, December 20th at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church in Rapid City with Pastor Bob Ruedebusch officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City, SD.
