Arthur Warren Rowlee, 71, of Gering, died Saturday, Feb. 28, at his home. Cremation has been held at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory at Scottsbluff. A Celebration of Arthur's life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 4 at the United Methodist Church at Mitchell, with Pastor Sheila Taylor officiating. Military honors will be provided the United States Navy. Memorials in Arthur's name may be made to the Church or Prairie Haven Hospice. Jones Mortuary at Mitchell is in charge of the arrangements. Arthur was born Jan. 12, 1938, at Morrill, the son of Bill and Opal (Stowell) Rowlee. He graduated with the Class of 1956 from the Mitchell High School. Arthur was united in marriage to Jo Ann Millsap, June 4, 1957, at Mitchell. To this union, four children were born and raised. Art enlisted in the United States Navy in April of 1957, serving 23 years in the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He retired as a chief petty offficer. He was a past Boy Scout leader and Little League coach. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Mitchell Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Moose Lodge #459, receiving their highest honor, the Pilgrim Degree. Art loved to cook and barbecue, while being surrounded by his family. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jo Ann; son, Tim (Michelle) Rowlee; daughters, Tammy (Yogi) Koob, Terry (Craig) Womack, Tracey Sargent, nine grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, with three more expected this year; mother-in-law, Bernice Millsap, sisters-in-law Joyce Rowlee, Betty Bookman; cousin, Phyllis (Gary) Lane; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; his brother Earl; father-in-law Cliff Millsap; and son-in-law, Rodney Sargent.
