Deseret News - July 1, 1965 CLEARFIELD - Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. for Golden L. Johnson, 8-year-old son of Golden Dal and Roxanna Chynoweth Johnson, who was electrocuted Saturday about 3 p.m. while hunting for worms with an electrical work shocker. The child apparently touched the metal rod while standing on wet ground. He was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Ogden. His family moved to Clearfield in 1963. He was a member of the Clearfield First Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his parents; brothers and sister, Vaughn, Rock, Gene, Kyle, Shane, Vonita, Susan, all Clearfield; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Johnson, Cannonville, Garfield County; Mrs. Harvey Chynoweth, Henrieville, Garfield County. Services will be held in the Clearfield First Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Lindquist and Sons Mortuary Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday until 9:30 a.m. Graveside services Wednesday at 1 p.m. Henrieville City Cemetery. ****** The Salt Lake Tribune Sunday, July 18, 1965 page B1 ELECTRIC SHOCKS CLAIM 2 IN SEPARATE ACCIDENTS A Clearfield boy and a Kearns man were electrocuted Saturday within about two hours of each other in separate accidents. The boy was killed while hunting for angleworms with a homemade electric shocker and the man was killed when a television antenna he was installing contacted electrical transmission lines... ...CLEARFIELD - An 8-year-old Clearfield boy - hunting for angleworms in the backyard of his home with an electrical worm shocker - was killed Saturday afternoon, about 3 p.m. Golden Lynn Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Golden Johnson, 351 S. Main, Clearfield, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Clearfield Police Officer Tom Wardle said the youth apparently was hunting fish worms by means of a metal rod with a long wire which was plugged into an electrical socket near the home. Officer Wardle said investigation indicated the boy was standing on wet ground at the time of the accident and apparently touched the rod with his right hand after failing to grip the tape wrapped handle. ****** The Salt Lake Tribune Sunday, July 18, 1965 page C3 GOLDEN L.
