Bio

Joel was the third child (and the second son) of Timothy Sanford, and likely the first child of Timothy and his second wife Rhoda (Norbach). Joel was married three times in his life. Joel had five children in his first marriage, four children in his second, and 12 (or 14) in his third, making Joel the father of at least 22 children. His first wife Louisa Young was the sister of Brigham Young and was killed in 1833 by a mob in Missouri. His second wife was Elizabeth Williams. They were married January 12, 1834 in Clay County, Missouri. Elizabeth died in about 1841. His third marriage was to "Miss Alice Rice." 31 Dec 1844.
