Bio

This is a memorial stone for Jacob Middleton Gauntt who died at Camp Nelson north of Little Rock, Arkansas on June 28, 1862 while serving in CO K 18 TEXAS CAV CSA. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Arkansas. He was born in Walton County, Georgia on Dec. 30, 1832. He married Elizabeth Matilda Knight on Dec. 24, 1854. Their children were Luanna (Bennett), Caladonia Texana "Callie", and William Austin. He had been a store owner prior to entering the war. After Jacob's death, Elizabeth married W.R.W. Kyle and is buried in Kyle Cemetery in south Anderson County.
