Married June 6, 1904 Greene Co., MS Funeral Services Held For Claxton The funeral service for George Eliott Claxton, 85, was held Aug. 22 at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. Claxton died unexpectedly at his residence Aug. 20. A native of the State of Georgia, Claxton has resided in George County for many years. The service was held at 8 p.m. with Rev. John Merck, pastor at Rocky Creek, officiating. Interment followed in the Rocky Creek cemetery. Fails Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ima Claxton of Route 6; one son, G.G. Claxton of Mobile; three daughters, Mrs. Rosilee Weaver, of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Grace Kynard of Mobile and Mrs. Pauline Edwards of Lucedale; two brothers, Bennett Claxton of Orlando, Fla., and Preston Claxton of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Emma Barbee of Savannah, Ga., and 25 grandchildren and three stepsons.
