Bio

Services for Cecelia Ortmeier, 89, of Snyder, were Monday, June 24, 1991 at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Snyder. Rev. Edward Schad officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were grandson, Stephen Prenzlow, Mark Ortmeier, John Brazda, Michael Brazda, and Bruce Cessna. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons David Prenzlow, Mark Brazda, Daniel Cessna, Barry Cessna, Jack Cessna, and John Cessna. Mrs. Ortmeier died Thursday, June 20, 1991 at her home in Snyder. She was born July 27, 1901 near West Point to Gerhard and Eva (Schmitz) Rolf. She attended St. Anthony's Catholic School of St. Charles, rural West Point. She married John B. Ortmeier on Feb. 14, 1928 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at St. Charles, rural West Point. They farmed near Beemer. In 1932, they purchased and moved to a farm two miles north of Snyder. They lived there until 1956 when they retired and moved to Snyder. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, its Guild, its Ministry of Praise, the Christian Mothers' Society, and the VFW Auxiliary Post 8439 at Snyder. Survivors include son Wilbert, Scribner; daughters Mrs. Joanne (Thomas) Brazda, West Point, and Mrs. Jeanette (John R.) Prenzlow, Snyder; 21 grandchildren,; 33 great-grandchildren; and brother John Rolf West Point. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on July 9, 1964; daughter Imelda Cessna, brothers Philip, Henry and Joseph; sisters Kathryn Renner, Mary Stieren and Anna Steffensmeier.
