She was born in "Granny's Neck" Delta County Texas to a farmer and his wife the middle child of three.Down the road from where she was born her best friend for life, Eva Brakeen, was born, also in 1907.They married brothers in 1922 and were friends until she died in 1954.She met Daddy in a brush arbor Church of Christ meeting held by her future father-in-law. She married Jasper Haywood"Dock"Dever on July 1,1922 in Delta County Texas.Their marriage license was issued in the Paris,Lamar County courthouse. They lived in Delta County where Dock was a farmer and then a city marshall for the town of Cooper. They had 7 children losing one as an infant.About 1950 after Dock lost his job in Cooper they moved to Mesquite where their oldest daughter,Almeta"Sis" lived. They then moved into Dallas as neither could drive and needed to be where public transportation was available. She had suffered with indigestion for years as her mother had. In 1954 she went in to a Dallas hospital for exploratory surgery to see if a reason and cure could be found. She passed away due to a pulmonary embolism following surgery. Her death certificate and the obit someone put on here are rife with errors. 1. She signed her letters Saline not Ceyline 2. Dever does not have an S on it as some records say. Also, Dever is not spelled as Deaver or Deavers or DeVer as some records say. 3. Her mother's maiden name was Faulkner 4. Her dad's name was James William, there fore his initials were not J M 5. Her and dad's marriage year was 1922 not 1921. I am the one who gave the info to the lady at the hospital who filled out her death certificate I was crying so hard that I could not see the piece of paper she handed me to proof. Be careful with records, they may be wrong. Mother's are. Census records are even more notorious for having errors, both from the census taker and from transcribing from poor writing.
