Bio

Graveside services for Vernon Leopard, 81, of Athens, are scheduled for 40 a.in. Tuesday in Oaklawn Memorial Park with Rev. James Greer officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens. Mr. Leopard died Sunday in Hospice of East Texas Home Place in Tyler. He was born May 31, 1915, in Henderson County to the late John Henry and Nancy Pierce Leopard. He was a superintendent for Ameron Corp. 23 years and after retirement in 1977 was actively engaged in farming`and ranching. He was a WWII veteran in the United States Army and a resident of Henderson County for 40 years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Leopard of Athens; one son and daughters-in-law, Joey and Su zi Wallace of Malakoff and Marjorie Wallace of Athens; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Don Rasco of LaRue, Glenda and Richard Gunnels of Paris and Joanne and Jimmy Glasgow of Athens; two brothers, Eldon Leopard of Tool and Jack Leopard of San Miguel, California; three sisters, Clara Trammell and Nola Sanders of Athens and Lucille Brown of Hemmitt, California; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchil¬dren. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wallace, in 1995.
