James is not actually buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Freestone County, Texas, USA, but LoRetta Hughes (F-a-G Member ID 46865226) created this memorial page for him and his family. James traveled to visit his sons in the Civil War. He died of gangrene somewhere along the way. It was about three months before the family was to learn of his death. It is believed that he died in Anderson Co., Texas. Unknown where he is buried.
