Wichita Evening Eagle, Tuesday, August 15, 1961 Survivor of Udall Tornado Dies at 88 Fred A. Taylor, 88, a former Wichitan, died Sunday at the IOOF Home in Manhattan, Kan. He was born June 3, 1873, in Galva, Kan., and was a resident of Udall, Kan., at the time of the tornado disaster. He lost his wife and one son in the storm. He then went to Amarillo, Tex., to live with a daughter, Mrs. Ida Gail Smith. He was a Wichita resident from 1916 to 1942. Mr. Taylor was a retired barber and a member of the Udall Lodge No. 473 IOOF. Survivors besides his Amarillo daughter are another daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Heath, 330 Fager, Haysville, Kan., f ive grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Broadway Mortuary. The Rev. Charles Strickler, pastor of the Broadway Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grovel Cemetery.
