Minister, Teacher, and successful Farmer; Pleasant Whitwell was the son of Thomas Whitwell, who was a veteran of the War of 1812, and fought in the Battle of New Orleans. Pleasant Whitwell m. his 1st cousin, Margaret Anderson, they were the parents of 5 sons and 2 daughters - on of which was Martha Ann Whitwell Ward. ***** It's my understanding that he was a preacher for the church of Christ. As a preacher in the churches of Christ, he would have gone by the title of "Elder" instead of "Rev". The word "Reverend" only occurs one place in the Bible and it refers to God. All church of Christ preachers never used the title "Rev." but instead "Elder". Contributor: Searchers of our Past (47220553)
