Bio

HOUSTON C.B. Betterton Jr., 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Kosciusko. He was a retired county agent for Chickasaw County, serving from 1957 to 1978. He was an assistant county agent for Tippah and Tishomingo counties before moving to Houston. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member and deacon of the Houston First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel White Betterton, on Oct. 8, 1996. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Houston Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chickasaw Memorial Gardens. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Behrends, and her husband, Steve, of Humble, Texas; two grandchildren, Robert and Thomas Daugherty of Humble, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Beadles Betterton Sr. and Flora Lee Morgan Betterton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday.
