Bio
Son the late Art and Flossie McHorn Mathews, he attended the Big Four Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 16, 1942. He served in the South Pacific during WWII. He returned home to farm in 1946. He married Betty Ruth Norton on August 6, 1949, in El Reno, OK. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Kingfisher, the Kingfisher American Legion Post 5, and the Elks Lodge. He was survived by three children, Bob Mathews, Susan Schoelen and Sharon Allen; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister. His funeral was held December 1, 2008, at the First Christian Church of Kingfisher with The Rev. Marilyn Merle officiating.
