Susan "Susie" Mathews Schoelen was born to Bill and Betty (Norton) Mathews on January 14, 1957, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She went to be in the loving arms of God on November 24, 2024. Susie attended and graduated from Cashion School in 1975. After graduation she attended beauty college and went to work for Suzanne's Beauty Shop. In 1977, Susie gave birth to her son, Brandon, followed by Amanda in 1981. In 1984, Susie married Neil Schoelen and became a mom to his little boy, Eric. During most of her adult life, Susie was a stay at home mom and homemaker keeping an immaculate home and preparing wonderful meals for her family and treats for her friends. After her children were grown, and for a short time in 1983/1984, Susie worked as a bartender/manager for Kingfisher Elk's Lodge. A job which she loved. Susie had a love of many things including the casino, loud music, a great party, good tacos, a perfect steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and most importantly her family and friends. She loved her kids and grandchildren more than anything. Full of sass and a fighting spirit, Susie never backed down from a challenge nor was she hesitant to crack a smart comeback or joke. Though plagued with various health issues over the years, she was the most positive, upbeat person who always met you with that smile we all love and will remember. Susie is survived by her children, Brandon and Regina Forbes of Grand Island Nebraska, Amanda and Aaron Wiggins of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and Eric Schoelen of Elk City, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Brittany, Anthony, Zulema, Andrew, Annalee, Nicholas, Parker, Oliver and Mikayla. Best friends Nancy Willbanks, Sharon Shepard, and Gail Tedders. Her granddogs Ruby and Spike. She is Proceeded in death by her parents Bill and Betty Mathews, husband Neil Schoelen, her "siblings", brothers in law Dennis Schoelen and James Lombardo, sister-in-law Suzan Riggs, nephews Brian and Brad Schoelen and dear friend Tanjia Bailey. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Kingfisher Church of the Nazarene. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home- Kingfisher.
