John Cayton Predmore was a farmer and ran a threshing machine for 40 years. He took quite an interest in politics. Joined the Methodist Church awhile before he died. He was the father of 15 children. OBITUARY: John Cayton Predmore was born March 14, 1834 and died at Walworth, Nebraska in Custer County August 2, 1909 at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 18 days. He was born near Findlay, Ohio and at the age of 15 years with the family, moved to Clayton County, Iowa where in later years he was united in marriage to Nancy Peters. Soon after his marriage they moved to Hardin County Iowa and in 1881 moved from there to Custer County Nebraska locating near the present site of Walworth. Since that time he has resided at that place. Uncle John, as he was familiarly called took quite an interest in politics and for a number of years was a member of Custer Countys Board of Supervisors, as well as holding a number of other offices of honor and trust, ever fulfilling his duties to the public in a faithful and upright manner. His name will long be remembered by the old settlers of Custer County. He leaves a wife and 12 children, eight girls and four boys, to mourn his loss. The remains were laid to rest in the Walworth cemetery, according to his request. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mathews of the Methodist Church. A large concourse of his neighbors and friends followed the remains to their last resting place, feeling that a kind father, a good neighbor and a faithful friend had been called from their midst by the immutable laws of nature, to which sooner or later we all must bow. (In 1993, Phoebe Predmore Rittenhouse said she remembered following when she was seven). One record said both buried in Predmore Cemetery at Walworth. (Note: Predmore and Walworth are the same cemetery. It is located near Walworth).
