Jacob was born in Germany, to Adam Gonnermann and Anna Catherine (Wetzel) Gonnermann. They came to the United States in 1855. They bought the Gonnerman family farm southwest of Hurdland Missouri in 1865. The family farm is still occupied by families and is a 5th generation family farm.
