Married; 03 Jan 1894 Illinois Parents of Frank are listed as Ignace Knittel and Margaret ZAUCHER Knittel. Margaret was an Elbert not Zaucher. It was her mother who was Zaucher. These are my husband's ancestors; Margaret's mother was Apollina Zucker/Zaucher b.Germany. Appolina/Apollina/etc m. _?__ Elbert. Margaret Elbert Knittel was her mother's only child because in the will of Margaret's mother, Apollina, she only named her 3 grandchildren; Elizabeth, Frank, Emma. Margaret had died before the will. [a 4th child had died when less than a year old in 1871.] The Zaucher families in Iroquois/Kankakee were b. Lingenfeld, Bavaria, Germany with their mother and 7 children immigrating to Illinois. I have the Zaucher family documented back to early 1700s and the Knittel family to mid 1600s. Knittels were Germans in France. Earlier in Rheinland, Germany. Ignatz/Ignace Knittel was b. Bennwihr, Haut Rhin, Alsace, France. Ignace had a 2d family with 2d wife: Barbara Weidner.
