Wife of Samuel Hogg Allen. Daughter of Joseph J. Shelton and Amanda (Anding) Shelton Amanda Josephine (Shelton) Allen Mar 7, 1862 - Aug 12, 1938 HEART ATTACK WAS FATAL TO EMHOUSE WOMAN ON FRIDAY Mrs. Amanda J. Allen, 76, widow of the late S. H. Allen of Emhouse, died of a heart attack at 1:30 Friday afternoon and funeral services were held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Emhouse Methodist Protestant church with Rev. L W. Shivers of Tehuacana conducting the rites. Burial was made in Pattison cemetery. She was a native of Texas and had resided in Emhouse for many years. Surviving are four sons, John W. Allan of Corsicana; C. D. Allen and J. H. Allen of Emhouse, and Raymond B. Allen of Corsicana; two daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Vaughn and Mrs. D. O. Richards of Corsicana; two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Meredith and Mrs. J. W. Richards of Emhouse; one brother, J. D. Shelton of Emhouse; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs, Allen was seized with a heart attack while walking home, and was taken into the home of a friend where she died a few minutes later. Corley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
