Mrs. John Hoksbergen, who had been very ill for the past seven months passed away at her home here in Hull last Friday morning, March 7th, at about 10:45 o'clock. Mrs. Minnie Hoksbergen, nee De Roos, was born on October 2, 1874 at Orange City, lowa - the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. De Roos, and died at Hull, Iowa, on Friday, March 7, 1941, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 5 days. She was married on November 6, 1901, to Mr. John Hoksbergen, at Hull, Iowa, by Rev. Kosters, pastor of the First Reformed Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hoksbergen first lived on a farm two and one-half miles south of Hull and in 1911 moved to a farm a mile east and two miles south of Hull where they lived until retiring and moving to Hull about six years ago. Besides her husband, Mrs. Hoksbergen is survived by three sons and three daughters: Henry of Hull; Pearl (Mrs. Alvin Kuiper) of Little Rock, Iowa; William of Hull; Margaret (Mrs. William Riphagen) of Hull; John W. of Holland, Michigan; and Jeanette (Mrs. Dewey Koele) of Hull; twelve grandchildren; and two brothers: William De Roos of Hull, and David De Roos of Sioux City. Another brother, Charles De Roos of Sioux City, died on February 9, 1941. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11, at 1:00 o'clock P.M. at the home and at 2:00 o'clock at the Protestant Reformed Church of Hull, with her pastor, Rev. A. Cammenga, officiating, assisted by Rev. G. H. Douwstra. Interment was in Hope Cemetery. -Obituary from The Sioux County Index (3/14/1941)
