Funeral services for Sammy Joe Johnson, 68, were held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at 2 p.m., at Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Pitkin, La., Bro. Arlen Smith officiated. Burial followed at Drakes Fork Cemetery in Cravens, La. Sammy Joe died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at DeRidder Retirement and Rehab in DeRidder, La. He is survived by wife, Alice "Rosie" Johnson; daughters, Brenda Lee Wise of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Tamera Dawn Johnson of Singer, La., and Bobbie Jo Johnson-Longlois and husband, Louis, of Singer, La.; grandchildren, Kimberly Maguire, Jimmy Maguire, Tracy Maguire, Austin Johnson, Kyle Trahan, and Juliet Leyva; great grandchild, Alaina Lynn Mashtare; and brother, Ottis Johnson of Pitkin, La.
