Bio
Missouri death certificate # 5465 female, white, widow housewife. Charles Best informant. Parents were David Malicote of PA. and Melinda Whitaker of TN. Funeral home, Denver & Sullivan. Interment Hazelwood Cemetery February 20, 1917. In the Fred Theime funeral home records 1929-1942, page 34 home records found that she was listed as mother of Charley Best, with initials D J Mallicott, and his father was William Best. I found her name on her son Allen F Bests death certificate. It was Garthulia Malicott and father was listed as Wm. At this juncture I have these names, Mrs. B J Best in the cemetery records, D J Best Charleys death cert. and this last one just found on Allens. Another name was found on a tree at Ancestry and this could be more closely to the correct name. Darthula or Dorotha J. Mallicoat. Surname as Malicott, Mallicott, Malicoat many spelling variations for this lady. This sent to me via e mail June 2013: Hi Judy, I found this family as confusing as you. Did locate census which link her to Daniel Love Mallicott and Mary Malinda (Whittenburg) Mallicott. Appears that William C. Best died bet 1900-1910; Dortha is shown as head of household in 1910. They had a bunch of kids: Allen T.(1858), Aramina (1860), Charles R. (1866), George G. (1869), Ida (1871), Ara (1877) and Arthur H. (1885) You did a trojin's job in tracing her down with the various spellings of the name. Jan. 2016 information provided by another contributor: Darthulia Jane Mallicoat was married to William Best and mother to my grandmother's grandfather Allen Foster Best. Her father was Daniel Love Mallicoat and mother Malinda Wittenberg. Children: Mahala J. Best 1860–1874 Francis Best 1863–1880 Charles R. Best 1866–1893 George G.
