M.C. Mallicoat, age 81 years, died Friday morning at his home on North Elm Street. A short funeral service was held from the residence at noon Saturday, after which the "boy" was raken to Virgil for burial. An obituary notice wull be published later. From Eureka Herald 28 January 1929 page 1. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Melvin C. Mallicoat was born April 16, 1847, and departed this life January 25, 1929, aged 81 years. He is survived by his widow and two sons, G.T., of Virgil, Kansas; C.D., of Wichita, Kansas; also two daughters, Mrs. Glen Opal Hill, of Benton, Kansas, and Theodosia, of El Dorado, Kansas; two children deceased, a son, Oscar Edward, and a daughter, Ella. Marjor Mallicoat was married twice, his second wife being Agnes Parmer, to whom he was united in marriage November 23, 1893. Major Mallicoat moved from Boonville, Illinois, to Cave Springs, Mo., in 1861. He resided first at Eureka, later moving to Virgil, where he resided for a number of years. For the past thirteen yeas he has been a resident of Eureka. From Eureka Herald 31 January 1929 page 1.
