Vinklarek, Felix Felix Vinklarek, of Midland, passed away Monday, July 4, 2005. He was born February 4, 1919 to John Vinklarek and Anastasia Kremel Vinklarek in Cistern, Texas. Felix spent his early years in the Cistern Community and graduated from Flatonia High School in 1938. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a B.S. degree in Geology in May, 1943. He attended the Permian Graduate Center. Felix entered the U.S. Army and served with the 1549 Engineers in S.W. Pacific. He was discharged on February 22, 1946. Felix joined Chevron Oil Corp. in 1947 and served in various assignments in West Texas and New Mexico. After 24 years, he took early retirement and joined several other independent oil companies. On June 12, 1949, he married Clare Rainosek of Smithville, Texas. They had two sons and one daughter. Felix was a member of A.A.P.G., American Institute of Professional Geologists and West Texas Geological Society. He is also a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church where he served as usher for many years. He also worked with the St. Vincent de Paul Society as a volunteer and was in charge of the food pantry. Felix worked with the Boy Scouts of America and coached Little League and Pony League baseball for several years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Alphonse and Bernard Vinklarek. Felix is survived by his wife, Clare Vinklarek of Midland, TX; sons, John Vinklarek and wife, Cynthia, of San Angelo, TX; David Vinklarek of Austin, TX; daughter, Nancy Vinklarek of Lubbock, TX; sister, Margie Gerlich of Houston, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Felix loved God and his family. He was a devoted husband and father. A prayer vigil will be held at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass has been scheduled for 9:00 A.M. Friday, July 8, 2005 at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Published in the Midland Reporter-Telegram from 7/7/2005 - 7/8/2005.
