Henry J. Chudej, 80, of Lacy Lakeview, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at a local nursing home. Mass of Christian Burial will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 1, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead with Father Timothy Vaverek as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Henry John was born in Ross, Texas, to the late Ambrose "Ambro" John and Frances Marie (Kallus) Chudej. He attended school at Abbott and West High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and trained at Ft. Hood in the 2nd Armored Division as a tank driver. Henry served in Germany and Australia and was discharged in December of 1952. He went to work at L.L. Sam's & Sons Church Furniture Co. for 12 years and then retired from Joe Matustik's General Contracting Co. Henry was a charter member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellmead and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7202, the Waco American Legion Post # 121 and the West V.F.W. post #4819. He volunteered at Geneva Hall from 1962 untill 1987. Survivors include his brother, Tony A. Chudej and wife, Mary Jane; sister, Helen Skerik; and numerous nieces and nephews.
