Purcell, Ok -- Arline H. Ashley Funeral services for Arline H. Ashley, 88, of Tulsa, formerly of Norman, were held Nov. 15, 2008 at Crosspointe Church in Norman. Interment was at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Mrs. Ashley died Nov. 12, 2008 at Naquita's Niche Residential Care Home in Tulsa. She was born May 7, 1920 in Lexington, the youngest of four children of Leslie Hollowell and Eunice Estelle (Webb) Hollowell. She was reared in the Spring Hill Community, attending school at Willow View and Lexington. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1938. In 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, Carl E. Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was an Air Force pilot during World War II and went Missing in Action, never to return. She married George C. Ashley in 1950. They both worked at the IRS until they had their only child, a daughter, Darlene. Mrs. Ashley was a stay-at-home mom and lived most of her life in Norman where she worked as a cashier for the University of Oklahoma before retiring in 1983. She attended Norman First Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl E. Blackwell; one brother, Irvin Hollowell and one sister, Connie Belew. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Crosspointe Church in Arline's memory.
