Modie Sweeney, 75, a longtime Paducah resident, passed away Wednesday, Nov 19, 2008 in Childress. FUNERAL SERVICES were held at 2 pm, Friday, Nov 21st at the First Assembly of God Church of Paducah with Pastor Carl Savage officiating, Interment followed in Paducah Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home... notes of condolence may be emailed to [email protected] Modie was born in Lazare TX. to Homer & Bessie Lee Yeargain and received her early education in Kirkland and Childress. In 1955 she married Everett Sweeney, Jr in Childress. Together they raised their family and Modie was the bookkeeper for the family owned car repair and paint shop. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the First Assembly of God Modie is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Everett Sweeney (1994) and her son Lowayne Sweeney (2008) She is survived by her son Bryan Sweeney and daughter Sherry Arnold, both of Paducah. one sister Greta Perkins of Gun Barrel City, TX, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
