Funeral services for William Thomas Wisby, Sr., 65, of DeRidder, were held Thursday Nov. 20, 2008 at 10 a.m., at Believers Bible Church in Pitkin, La., the Rev. Chad Longino and the Rev. Lonnie Cleveland officiated. Interment followed at Wisby Family Cemetery in Cravens, La. Thomas died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 in Alexandria, La. He is survived by his children Sharon Denise Robledo, William "Billy" T. Wisby, Jr., Addris William Wisby, Wilton Earl Wisby, and Shelby Lee Morvant; grandchildren Tommy, Levi, Cody, Branden, Karly, Scott, ShiAnne, Michael, Elaina, Luke and Sharon Rosa; great grandson Kash Carson Wisby; and brothers and sisters Fred Wisby, Jr., Willard Wisby, J.C. Wisby, Bernice Burgess and Nona Cole. A native of the Cravens area, Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a crane operator in the oil field industry. He was an active member of the DeRidder Riding Club, and the Wagon Wheel Riding Club of Slagle, and was active in rodeos throughout the state. Thomas also was a horse trader and loved to tell stories about his experiences. He loved his family and was a friend to all.
