Clarence Bennett GILMER (Spl) - Funeral services for Clarence Bennett, 73, of Big Sandy will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in the Chilton Cemetery under the direction of Crowley Funeral Home. Mr. Bennett died suddenly at 6 a.m. Thursday in his home. He was a native Texan and had resided in Marshall 18 years prior to moving to Upshur County. Mr. Bennett owned and operated a restaurant in Big Sandy until his recent retirement. He was a member of the Baptist Church since early childhood. Survivors include his wife, Mary Bennett of Big Sandy; one son, Cyril Bennett of Big Sandy; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Armstrong of San Antonio; one brother, Merle Bennett of Tyler; one half-brother, Carl Clendennon of Tyler; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Bennett, Joe Ed Bennett, Dorsey Robinson, Walter Sikes, Ronny Sikes, Jack Pierce, Bryson Hamil and Cliff Barrow.
