Robert "R.J." Wallace Sr., 81, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford. Interment: Curtis Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church. R.J. was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Fort Worth, the oldest of five children, to Frank and Clara Wallace. He attended school in Lake Worth, Reno and Springtown. He married Vonceal Mathis on Feb. 1, 1946, in Leo. After his marriage they moved to Fort Worth. R.J. enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1946 and was discharged in September 1947. After returning from the Army, he went to Brantley Draughan Business School and went to work in the credit office at Leonard's Department Store. In 1950, R.J. moved to Reno, where he served on the school board. He worked for the Santa Fe Railway as a clerk from 1954 until he retired in 1987. R.J. moved from Reno to Haltom City in 1964, then moved to Breckenridge in 1988 and then to Weatherford in 1996 until his death. R.J. was a Mason and active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Edna Smith of Burleson, in 2003. Survivors: Wife of 62 years, Vonceal Mathis Wallace; children, Robert Wallace Jr. and wife, Jan, Patsy Reimers and husband, Gene, Paul Wallace and wife, Maria, and Neal Wallace and wife, Toni; grandchildren, Karen Paulman and husband, John, Brenda Allbritton and husband, Jason, Brian Swink and wife, Danielle, April Gordon and husband, Nolan, and Jonathan Wallace and wife, Mikonda; great-grandchildren, Meghan, Jared, Katelyn, Natalie, Rylan, Danica, Kailea, Cody and Amelia; and sisters, Sarah Allen of Portland, Ore., Ora Lee Wilson of Woodland, Wash., and Martha Wills of Breckenridge.
