Bio
Daughter of Peter & Elsie (Whitaker) Speicher. Mildred grew up in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School. She went to work at Central National Bank and on January 15, 1951, Mildred married Anthony Hassebrook in Neligh, Nebraska. After her marriage to Anthony she started working at the Hassebrook Cafe and Grocery Store in Platte Center, which they operated until 1969. Mildred also worked at D&L, and as a cook at Mory's Haven and the Columbus Hospital. Mildred was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Columbus. Mildred's hobbies included gardening, cooking, crocheting, and taking care of her many pets. She also enjoyed her morning coffee with her friends and spending time with her grandchildren, and in her later years, due to her failing health, visiting with her family and friends via telephone.
