HIS OBITUARY IS IN THE LEEDY COLLECTION IN THE KEEPING OF THE MINNILUSA HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION IN RAPID CITY SD. He lived in various places with his family in Kansas and Nebraska. In 1902 he found employment with Chicgo Northwestern Railroad, his principal employer until retirement. From 1920 to 1928 he was yardmaster at Rapid City SD. At the time of is retirement in 1949 , he was yardmaster at Norfolk NE. In 1950, he became conductor of the U.S.Corps of Engineers at Pickstown SD in the operation of the railroad supplying contractors on the FT Randall Dam. In 1955, he and his wife purchased and operated The Dairy Sweet concession at Rockerville Gold Town until 1960. After that he was custodian if voting machines in Pennington County. He was married on Dec 2, 1924 to the former Eda L Edzards. Simon was active in Prebyterian Church throughout his life. Perry was a member of Masonic Lodge 55 AF&Am, Norfolk NE, Beulah Chapter 40, Order of he Eastern Star and Damascus Chapter 25 KT since 1919. He was a member of the York Rite college since 1961. He was survived by his widow, three sons, Dr Eugene E Covert of Arlington VA,Dr Richard P Covert of Brookings SD and LeRoy W Covert of Seattle WA, ten grandchildren, one brother, Kenneth Covert born about 1909, of Marinette WI and several nieces and nephews.
